Greetings ~

Actually, when you think about it, barbers and brain surgeons have a lot in common. They both work on your head. But when it's all over, the barber has an advantage, you look better. Okay, maybe you can't compare a barber to a brain surgeon but this blog is about barbers so we will concentrate on them.
When I was a kid in the 1950s and '60s, we had two barbers that did the hair of myself and my dad. Both, The one had a great name for a barber, it was Bob Styles. The other was an Italian man, Joe Russo. I had my hair cut by Bob Styles and my dad by Joe. Both the shops were small. Most barber shops in those days were small neighborhood shops, mostly one to two chairs. Both Bob's and Joe's shops were single chair shops. Both Bob and Joe were around 55 to 60 years old with the Joe a little older as I remember. I know that my father did not use Bob Styles as they had a small feud going on. Back in the early 1940s, dad bought the house I grew up in from Bob Styles. He got a great deal on it. But then, a few years later, housing prices went up and Bob was angry that he sold early and, for some strange reason, blamed my father for not paying more. Yeah, that's right! Anyway, Bob stayed pissed from then on at my dad. But for some strange reason, mom always sent me to Bob Styles for my haircuts.
